AN ACCRINGTON high school has hosted a launch event for the official Eco-Schools anthem ‘Breathe’.
Singer James King visited St Christopher’s CE High School to perform the song in front of hundreds of enthusiastic pupils.
He then ran music workshops for pupils in Year 8 and the sixth form based around environmental issues.

The Queens Road West school was selected to host the launch event as they are one of the top Eco Schools in the north of England, having run a number of initiatives including an annual conference where they invite primary and secondary schools from across the country.
Written by Australian singer-songwriter Luc Floreani, and recorded by James, the track has already become the theme song for Keep Britain Tidy, Eco Schools, and Princes Trust Rainforest Project.
The song is about making changes and standing up for what you believe in.
Director of sustainability at St Christopher’s CE High School, Wendy Litherland, said: “We were are all incredibly excited to welcome James King for the launch of the Eco-Schools single.
“As the UK’s top eco school, we were thrilled to be asked to be part of this project.
“We were one of the first Eco-Schools in the county, having our own poly-tunnel, a number of plant beds as well as running a number of other ecology based initiatives throughout the year.
“The students had a fantastic time, it was great for them to see James perform, he’s a very talented singer.”
The single will be released on Monday. The school is looking schools to take part in their eco debate on July 8. Call 01254 232992.
