DANCERS from a Blackburn college are celebrating their latest success of being chosen to perform one of their own contemporary creations.
The team of youngsters from the dance academy at St Mary’s College, in Shear Brow, was one of just 10 groups of performers picked to dance at the U.Dance North West Regional Platform 2015 at The Lowry, Manchester.
The troupe will also get the opportunity to work with professional dancers and choreographers to hone their performance and their technical skills.
Elissa Best, head of dance, at the college, said: “The dancers will be able to participate in a series of workshops led by outstanding national practitioners.
“To then perform Passers By at The Lowry is an opportunity of a lifetime. I am incredibly proud of the 12 dancers that represent St Mary’s College dance academy”.
Over the past few years, St. Mary’s has spent more than £13 million on developing a 21st century campus.
All the college’s teaching and sports facilities are on-site and new provision has been created for the Performing Arts, Media, Film, Information Technology and Computing, the Sciences, Social Sciences and most recently, Business.
