ACCRINGTON Stanley fans have joined forces to raise money to build new changing rooms at the club after England manager Roy Hodgson famously refused to let his Fulham side use existing facilities.

The club’s Official Supporters Club is selling £5 raffle tickets to be drawn at a Saturday home game in October in a bid to stump up the £25,000 needed to rebuild and refurbish the changing block at the Store First Stadium.

And it’s not the first time the club’s loyal fan base has come together to help improve their beloved Stanley – the changing rooms at the original Peel Park Ground were actually built by supporters in 1937.

In 2010, Roy Hodgson’s Fulham FC side were due to play Stanley in an FA Cup tie but after taking one look at the facilities, he promptly took his team back to change at the nearby Dunkenhalgh Hotel, where they were staying.

There’s a total of nine prizes up for grabs for fans who purchase a raffle ticket to help raise money to fund the new facilities.

Winners will enjoy cash prizes of £1,500 and £500, a 2015/2016 flexi ticket, a colour TV, a round of golf and lunch for two with Stanley players, a day out to Middleham Racing Stables in North Yorkshire and signed ASFC shirt and football.

Nick Westwell, chairman of the Accrington Stanley Official Supports Club, said: “We want to do our bit on behalf of the supporters of Accrington Stanley to improve the facilities.

“We are trying to bring everyone together.”

Tickets will be sold by the supporters.

They can also be purchased from the club shop or by emailing n.westwell@sky.com.
