AN ACCESS visit to a dog, whose owners decided to share custody of the pet after their relationship ended, resulted in an assault.

Stuart Edward Forshaw assaulted his ex-partner’s new boyfriend after he had gone to collect the pet. Blackburn magistrates heard Forshaw was not looking for trouble.

Forshaw, 29, of Whittingham Road, Longridge, pleaded guilty to assaulting David Hollingworth. He was fined £80 with £105 costs and told to pay £100 compensation.

Philip Hall, prosecuting, said Forshaw had gone into the house uninvited and was told to leave.

His response was: “Who is going to make me?”

Mr Hollingworth was pushed into the bathroom and punched twice. Paolo Paserini, defending, said the offence was out of character for his client who had not been previously convicted.
