POLICE are investigating a suspected arson attack on a house in Accrington.
Firefighters were called to the house in Elizabeth Street at 10pm on Friday after a neighbour spotted smoke coming from a window.
Crew manager Andy Pennington said: “The house was empty on arrival but it was heavily smoke-logged.

“Two teams equipped with breathing apparatus entered the house to put out the flames.
“The ground floor kitchen and living room were damaged by the fire and there was smoke damage upstairs, but no neighbouring properties were damaged.”
Inspector Mick Johnson of Accrington police said: “We were called by the fire service at 10.15pm.
“The house appeared to be unoccupied, however it would appear there were numerous seats of fire and it is being treated as suspicious. The actual damage was minimal.”
