POLICE are appealing for information to trace a man they would like to speak to in connection with a mass brawl in Blackburn last month.

The incident happened at around 2am on Friday, February 13 on Darwen Street outside the Tasty Spot takeaway.

It is believed the brawl, involving around 20 asian and white men, began after one man punched another in the face.

A number of the men suffered minor facial injuries as a result and one man needed treatment for a fractured jaw.

Officers have released CCTV images of a man who they would like to speak to in connection with their enquiries. 

PC Mark Blackey of the Hate Crime and Cohesion Unit said: “This was a nasty incident and it was fortunate that no one was seriously injured in the altercation. One line of enquiry we are looking at is whether this was a racially motivated attack.

“We are keen to trace the man in the CCTV images and would encourage anyone with information about his identity to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
