BUILDERS have submitted a full planning application for the 110-house development near Cranberry Lane in Darwen.
Bloor Homes unveiled the proposal to build on land at Kirkham’s Farm, between Cranberry Lane and Spring Vale Garden Village, in May last year.

The proposal came after the area – 7.31 hectares of greenfield land – was designated for development under Blackburn with Darwen Council’s local plan.
The plan has been met with widespread opposition from nearby residents.
They have launched a Facebook group called Save Cranberry Lane From Development.
However, this has not put off Bloor Homes from continuing with its plans.
In a design and access statement submitted with the planning application, a Bloor Homes spokesman said: “The proposed development is for up to 110 dwellings, access, areas of open space, green infrastructure, landscaping and associated infrastructure including sustainable drainage features.
“The site offers an accessible and attractive location to create high quality homes.
“The site is well placed to provide connections to existing facilities.
“And it offers improved access to public open space, particularly a children’s play area, for existing residents of the local area.
“A residential development in this location will contribute to widening the housing options available and support the delivery of new, sustainable homes in Darwen, forming what could be viewed as a logical and organic extension to the existing settlement urban edge.
“The addition of up to 110 homes will be a positive addition to Darwen and will help support town centre services and facilities, as well as creating local employment opportunities during the construction period.”
Marsh House councillor John Roberts said: “Cllr Frank Connor and I support the residents up there in opposing the building of houses on that land.
“We do not think it is the appropriate place to build that type and level of development.”
People wishing to comment on the application, which is number 10/15/0219, have until Tuesday, March 31, to do so.
