THE Blackburn Business Improvement District has welcomed a move by another business venture which has relocated to fill one of the empty units to offer a new improved service and extended opening hours.

The new Resource Hub based at Fleming Square is run by the Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education and takes over from Simply Resources, formerly located in the north transept of Blackburn Cathedral.

Sarah Earnshaw, children’s work administrator at Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education, said: “We have been working hard to develop our range of faith-based books and resources for all those involved with children and youth work in parishes and schools.

“We also have an entirely new range of resources focusing on ‘Families at Home Together’.

“We’re really excited to see where this new venture takes us, and have lots of ideas about how we could use The Hub for pre-school story time sessions during the day, evening training sessions, small group meetings and much more.”

Harriet Roberts, BID manager, said: “This is a great example of Blackburn’s specialists on the high street which will attract visitors from far afield and offer a service or experience beyond retail.”

The Hub is open, Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, but the official opening is on Saturday, May 9, from 1.30pm, with author Bob Hartman.

This is the second empty retail unit to be filled by a Cathedral project following the opening of the BB1 Bread for Life café/community project by Canon Shanon Leadbetter a few weeks ago.

The Resource Hub is open Monday to Friday 10am-4pm.
