MORRISONS in Blackburn town centre is the latest venue in the borough to host free NHS health checks.

Free NHS health checks are supported by Blackburn with Darwen Council and are open to people aged 35 to 74 who either live, work, have a GP or are educated in the borough.

Taking the health check sessions to Morrisons proved successful with 13 people signing up on the day to have one carried out with the health checks nurse Suzanne Warren.

Health checks can help pick up on any risks associated with heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease, although you must not be diagnosed with a conditions before having a test.

If you between 35 and 74 and have not been diagnosed with and/or take medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney disease, coronary heart disease, and either live, work, are educated or have a GP in Blackburn with Darwen then you are entitled to your free NHS check.

Upcoming clinics are taking place on: Tuesday, March 10, at DW Sports and Fitness, Haslingden Road, Guide, Blackburn, from 9.30am to 3.50pm.

On March 14, at Bank Top Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Arthur Way, Blackburn, 10am to 2.40pm.

On March 17, at Darwen Leisure Centre, The Green, Darwen, 1pm to 7.40pm.

On March 18, at Audley and Queens Park Neighbourhood Learning Centre, Pringle Street, Blackburn, from 9.30am to 3.50pm.
