A HUNGRY burglar was ‘potted’ after preparing a noodle snack when he broke into a shop.

And the late-night snack earned him six months in prison because it put him in breach of prison licence.

Ward, 27, of Bright Street, Oswaldtwistle, pleaded guilty to burglary at Ossy Bargain Centre and theft of food. He was jailed for 12 weeks for the offence but has been recalled to complete a previous sentence which will keep him behind bars until September.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said the owner of the second hand shop discovered the burglary on a Saturday morning. A rear window had been smashed and an untidy search carried out.
“The burglar had also prepared and eaten a Pot Noodle and a chicken chow mein meal and also made himself a brew,” said Miss Allan. “His fingerprints were recovered from the noodle container.
Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Ward had been drunk and broke into the shop because he was hungry.
“He accepts he made a mess in preparing his supper and he apologises to the shopkeeper for that,” said Mr Taylor. “As a result of this offence he has been recalled to prison until September and he knows how foolish he has been.”
