THERE will be a 70s revival at a Blackburn church as it dips into the past to celebrate more than four decades of preaching.

Leaders at Wesley Hall Methodist Church, Feilden Street, are looking to make contact with anyone who has had some connection with the church from March 22, 1972, onwards.

Church steward Cathy Hilliard said: “We will be looking back to 1972 and we wish to invite people along who have had some form of contact with the church over the years since that time.”

The church is hoping that anyone who was baptised, married or attended the church over the years will get in touch and maybe even share their stories.

Rev John Howard-Norman said: “Many people will have been involved in the drama clubs, youth clubs, badminton club, soup kitchen, church choir, Sunday School, Fisherman’s net coffee bar and wives groups at the church over the years and we would like them to get back in touch.

"Maybe they have some photos of their time here that they can share with us.”

The church is asking people to email a photo of themselves and a few words about their time at the church.

Rev Howard-Norman added: “At the service, we will have a display of old photographs from our archive that will most likely bring back a lot of memories for people.

"As we seek to move forward in the 21st-century it is good to recognise and celebrate the journey of the Christian congregation on this site.”

The church was opened in 1972, replacing the former Trinity Paradise Church.

Five congregations came together to form the newly created Wesley Hall Central Methodist Mission.

The current building is also the home of the ARC project which works with Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

The anniversary service will take place on March 22, from 10.30am to 11.30am, at Wesley Hall Methodist Church.

Refreshments will be available after the service.
