A TRAIL of blood left by a burglar could lead to his arrest.
The prospective thief tweet smashed his way into the Civic Arts Centre, in Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, just before 5am yesterday.
It was the third break-in there in just eight months — but staff are hopeful DNA may finally lead to an arrest.
Creative director Gayle Knight said: “Unfortunately for the person who did this, they have cut themselves quite badly on a the broken window at the side of the building quite badly because there’s blood everywhere.
“The police are very confident they will be able to track them person down this time. They even think he might have ended up going to the hospital because there was so much blood.
“There was a trail of it everywhere they went.”
Gayle was alerted to the break-in after being contacted by a security firm hired to look after the building and said it ‘was not a pleasant way to start the day’.
The burglar prospective thief was caught on CCTV searching for items to steal in Gayle’s office, but he left empty-handed after triggering an alarm.
The centre had a laptop and money stolen in during two previous break-ins, last summer and in January this year.
A police spokeswoman said an investigation has been launched and appealed for anybody with information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 119 of March 4.
