He was last seen wearing a black tracksuit with red stripes, a brown or green waterproof coat, and blue Voi trainers, at his house in Accrington.

PC Ashleigh Maxwell said: “We are growing increasingly concerned for Jonathan and I would appeal to anyone who knows where he might be to get in touch with us.

“I would also ask that, if Jonathan himself sees this appeal, that he calls us to let us know he is okay.”

Around 110,000 adults go missing in the UK every year, with the majority of those men, charity Missing People estimates.

Men between the ages of 24 and 30 are most likely to be reported missing.

The charity said two thirds of missing adults ‘decided to leave’, with the main reason being a relationship breaking down.

In a report, the charity said: “The length of time that a person remains missing depends on the circumstances in which they went missing.”

Around 92 per cent of missing people were traced within a week, and 99 per cent within a year, although those figures include children going missing.

Anyone with information about Mr Black should contact police on 101 quoting log number 0986 of Thursday, October 30 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
