A BURNLEY gym is to invest £500,000 in new hi-tech equipment not yet available anywhere else in Lancashire.
Crow Wood Leisure plan to replace every piece of cardio vascular equipment with the very latest from Technogym.
This will see a wide range of equipment that will allow members to monitor their training results not just in the gym, but anywhere in the world with internet access, as results will be saved to a “cloud” based data storage system.
Besides monitoring your training progress, each machine will have its own monitor screen, allowing you to watch your own television, dock most models of mobile phone and listen to your own music collection.
Andrew Brown, the managing director, said: “It’s incredible to think that our members will be able to workout whilst surfing the internet, sending and receiving emails, doing shopping, and staying in touch with friends.
“If you use “map my run”, you can even include your gym session in your training stats,” added Andrew.
“In the next few weeks we will also be offering “Swimtag” to our members, by borrowing a free-of-charge wristband from reception, sensors in the pool hall will measure your swim, giving you full analysis of speed, distance, fastest length etc., then you can add it to your cloud based records. I’m sure this is the way forward, but it’s not available anywhere else in Lancashire.”
