FAMILIES in the North-West spend £720 million a year on basic school costs, new research reveals.
The study also found children from struggling families miss chances to make the most of their education and face bullying.
Despite guidance suggesting the cost of uniform should be kept down, the Children’s Commission on Poverty found families spend £600 million a year on them.
