The retired clerical clerk said he felt the impact of the collision vibrate through his house in Whalley Road, Clayton-le-Moors.
Mr Hill, whose cat Barnie had woken him just moments before the smash, said: “I could see that my car was parked on the pavement and I went outside in my pyjamas and slippers, saw my car and just though ‘oh my God’.
“There was debris in the road and the police told me my car might be a write off.
“It is very distressing. I am retired and I take my older bro-ther and his wife shopping in it. I also use it for going on holidays.
“I have had a car for years now and I would not like to be without one because as you get older, it gets harder to walk around.”
Mr Hill’s neighbour Neil Wilkinson, 34, also woke to see potentially irreparable damage to his Volkswagen Golf.
The chef, who works at Checco’s, in Great Harwood, said: “It is gutting. I have had my wing mirror caught a couple of times before, but the impact of this is just a joke.”
Police said they believed the lorry involved was a large Volvo truck. PC Kate Brady of the Eastern road policing unit said: “We are appealing for anyone with any information about the truck, or the driver themselves, to get in touch with us and help us with our enquiries.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
