EXTRA police patrols have been requested after representatives of a Pendle OAPs club complained about problems caused by street drinkers.
Officials from the Senior Gateway Club, based in Richard Street, Brierfield, had raised concerns with councillors in the town after several incidents where broken glass bottles had been left in their yard.
The club’s leaders told councillors that it was causing a hazard to centre users and they requested help in addressing the issue.
The Brierfield and Reedley area committee heard that there had also been other anti-social behaviour surrounding the garages and nearby land on Richard Street.
Councillors agreed, through committee chairman Coun Naeem Ashraf, to contact local police to request additional patrols in the Richard Street area.
It was also agreed to organise a clean-up operation for the untidy land.
