THE first Walking Football Tournament in Rossendale takes place on Saturday at Marl Pits Leisure Centre, Rawtenstall.
The game is played at walking pace and women and men aged 20 to 70 will take part, with representations from businesses, pubs, third-sector organisations and community groups.
There will be an opportunity for teams and those attending the tournament to share refreshments at Rossendale RUFC Club House, with the winner’s trophy being awarded by the Mayor and Mayoress of Rossendale, Coun Thomas Aldred and Valerie Sanderson.
All proceeds from the tournament as a result of raffle ticket sales will go directly to fund The Raft Foundation family Christmas party. The event begins at 11.30am.
