DOZENS of the undead were chased by soldiers across ‘Rottenstall’ at the weekend.
Blood-thirsty zombies were hunting down runners on a 5k run in the Forest of Rawtenstall - all with the aim of raising funds for Rossendale charity, Cash for Kids.
Andrew Thomas of I Love Rossendale, the event organisers said: “It’s been hard work but it was just so worth it.
“Everyone who took part, whether they were a runner, zombie or a soldier, paid an entrance fee and all of it went to the Cash for Kids charity.
“More than 100 people took part and for our first time, that’s excellent.”
Spectactors gathered at Marl Pits Leisure Centre to watch and there was entertainment from local bands and a variety of stalls and a performance from Rossendale Dance and Drama club.
Every runner escaped unscathed escaping obstacles such as a giant spider web and, of course, wandering zombies.
