THE chair of governors at Shuttleworth College said he is confident the school will improve from its latest Ofsted report under the direction of new headteacher Ruth England.
The school received an ‘inadequate’ rating following an inspection at the start of term.
Simon Davies, who is also acting headteacher at Thomas Whitham Sixth Form College, said: “We’ve been hugely impressed with Ruth.
“She had identified even before she started issues with the school and has taken steps to address these.
“One of the positives in the report is that the inspectors observed that.
“They said they were telling us what we already knew.
“Ruth is a breath of fresh air. She’s absolutely brilliant. I have got every confidence in her.
“My daughter is in Year Nine at the school, and my other daughter is going into Year Seven.
“I certainly wouldn’t leave them in the school if I thought the school was failing and wouldn’t deliver the results.
“I would have pulled them out.”
