MEMBERS of a Burnley church are trying to find out as many names and details of servicemen and women who died during the First World War and other conflicts.
Organisers at St Mary’s RC Church, in Todmorden Road, have been working to build a war memorial in the building.
They have already sourced 200 names of fallen soldiers in the Burnley area, but are appealing for anybody who could help to get in touch.
A spokesman said: “The members of the church are also asking those in the Burnley and District area to give them details of any serving service men and woman who died in the two World Wars and other conflicts, in order that their names can be included and inscribed on the war memorial.”
A memorial concert will also take place at the church on November 16 from 2pm. Entry is free, but donations will be welcomed.
