A RIBBLE Valley headteacher is taking a break from work due to illness.
Janet Malone, of St Mary’s RC Primary School in Langho, has been off work since October 3.
An associate headteacher has been appointed to lead the school alongside the current deputy and staff.
Fr Leo Heakin, who is priest in charge of St Mary’s RC Church in the village, said: “I was contacted by the chair of governors about Mrs Malone’s leave of absence.
“Obviously I wish her a speedy recovery and it almost goes without saying that she has done so much good for the school since she joined a few years ago.
“She has worked hard with her staff to improve the school after a difficult Ofsted inspection.
“We don’t currently know when she will be back at work but I’m sure that standards will be maintained during her absence.”
