A 22-YEAR-OLD man and a teenager have appeared before Blackburn magistrates charged in connection with an incident in July in which police vehicles were rammed several times during a pursuit which started in Burnley and ended in Clayton-le-Moors.
Martin James Maughan, of no fixed address, was sent in custody to Burnley Crown Court charged with unauthorised taking of a Mercedes van aggravated by dangerous driving in Carter Street, Burnley, Manchester Road, Hapton, Green Street, Padiham, and Church Street, Padiham, failing to stop and report a road traffic accident, and two charges of police assault as a result of injuries sustained when their vehicles were rammed.
The 17-year-old was sent on bail to the Crown Court charged with unauthorised taking aggravated by dangerous driving.
