A RIBBLE Valley councillor who was involved in a collision with a car has said that he feels lucky to be alive.
Coun Ged Mirfin, 45, suffered a serious head injury and a broken right leg after the incident involving a black Renault Clio in Whalley Road, Billington, on Friday morning.

He had been walking his son Harry to St Leonard’s CE Primary School.
He was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital in a stable but serious condition.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Coun Mirfin, who represents Billington and Old Langho, said: “The emergency services did a fantastic job.
“I don’t remember very much about what happened at all but apparently I picked up Harry and threw him away from the road before I was hit.
“I have been overwhelmed with messages of support from all sorts of people that I never expected and that’s really humbling.”
