SIX men, including former AFC Darwen coach Kenny Langford, have appeared before Blackburn magistrates following police raids which netted cannabis with a street value of £300,000.

The bulk of the cannabis was recovered from a large detached house in Whalley were a sophisticated growing set-up was discovered.

Police also raided other addresses in Darwen and Manchester as part of a co-ordinated operation.

Langford, 47, of Cranberry Fold Court, his son Danny Langford, 24, of Priory Grange, Darren Burrows, 40 of Anyon Street, Jonathon Taylor, 32, of Tunnel Street, all Darwen, and Nicola Ricioppo, 66, of Clitheroe Road, Whalley, are all charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis. Michael Yates, 63, of Holmfield Avenue, Blackpool, is charge with being concerned in the production of cannabis.

All six men were sent to Burnley Crown Court where they will appear on November 3. Kenny Langford and Burrows were remanded in custody and the other four on bail.
