STUDENTS graduating in Blackburn took part in a series of processions flanked by trumpeters and distinguished guests.
Around 1,000 people graduated from University Centre at Blackburn College at King George’s Hall yesterday. And in a first for the university, students were led in procession from the university centre to the Blakey Moor venue by principal and chief executive, Dr Thomas Moore.

Dr Moore said: “We have close to 1,000 students graduating this year and wanted to celebrate by letting Blackburn see our graduates in their caps and gowns.
“This was a first for Blackburn and was a really impressive sight to behold.
“I would like to pass on my congratulations to all our students who graduated.”
