A PROJECT to create two new extra work rooms at a Todmorden primary school has been welcomed by its headteacher.
Education bosses in Calderdale have established a grant aid scheme, inviting council-maintained schools to apply for assistance of up to £75,000.
And governors at Cornholme School have been awarded the full amount to provide much-needed room at the premises. Headteacher Adam Sapey said: “We are delighted that the council recognised the needs of our school. We are desperately short of space for storage, group work and activities.
“This project will add at least two extra work rooms to the school within the existing roof space. It will enable us to better meet the needs of our children and staff.”
Coun Colin Rastrick, children’s service cabinet member, said the funding played ‘an important part in creating conditions for effective teaching and learning’.
