HEALTH chiefs have stressed the ‘vital importance’ of visiting the doctors if you find blood in your urine.
Public Health England’s Be Clear on Cancer campaign aims to cut the number of cases of bladder and kidney cancer, which kill about 350 people in Lancashire and Cumbria each year.
Blood in urine is a key symptom of both diseases, and the earlier they are diagnosed, the higher the chance of survival.
Dr Jane Rossini, from the Cumbria and Lancashire Public Health Centre, said: “Don’t put it off or wait to see if it happens again as an early diagnosis increases the chance of survival for people who are diagnosed with bladder or kidney cancer.”
