THOSE who have yet to make a will are being urged to take part in East Lancashire Hospice Will Week.

Participating solicitors across East Lancashire have agreed to waive their normal fee to write a standard will, in return for making a donation to East Lancashire Hospice.

Will Week runs from October 20-24 and participants can contact any of the solicitors taking part to make an appointment.

Once a will has been written, an envelope is provided for the person to make a donation which is passed directly to the hospice, and can also be gift aided, making the donation worth 25 per cent more at no extra cost to the person making it.

Victoria de-Mel, partner at Roebucks Solicitors which has branches in Accrington, Blackburn and Clitheroe, said: “We are delighted to participate in Will Week each year to support the hospice in continuing its important and dedicated work.” Watson Ramsbottom, which has four branches in East Lancashire, also participate in the scheme.

Stuart Maher, director and head of the Wills and Estate planning team, said: “We are looking forward to being involved each year and hope many more people take advantage of the scheme to raise valuable funds for the hospice.”

Fundraising manager Sharon Crymble said: “The scheme has raised more than £20,000 in the last four years.

“We couldn’t raise this without the support of the solicitors who have been with us from the start and have given their own time writing hundreds of wills.

“This goes a long way in helping us to care for our patients and also ensures a person’s wishes are carried out, helping to put their mind at rest.”

Will Week forms are available from the hospice reception, any hospice shops, by calling 01254 733410 or on the website eastlancshospice.org.uk.
