A POST-MORTEM examination into the death of a woman who was found on a canal barge has proved ‘inconclusive’ officers said.
A murder investigation was launched by the Lancashire force major investigation team on Friday after the 47-year-old woman was discovered on a craft on the Leeds Liverpool Canal, close to the Anchor Inn at Salterforth.

Police said the woman had sustained injuries, although it was not certain if she had been attacked.
A 64-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been bailed.
A police spokesman said: “A post-mortem examination has proven inconclusive and further tests will now be carried out in order to establish the cause of death.”
