RESIDENT’S have spoken out over a dangerous road that has been described as ‘Sabden’s motorway’.
They took to Facebook to voice their concerns over Clitheroe Road and have called on the police to look into the issue.
The comments were made after resident Kevin Lingard, was hit by a car while retrieving paperwork from his vehicle.
Kevin, who organises the annual Sabden Live music festival, said: “This is Sabden’s motorway, bypass or rat run.
“I have lived on this road for a year now and last Thursday was finally hit by a car coming up the hill.
“Nothing was broken, I just had just a twisted arm and shoulder.
“The driver of the car left the scene as if nothing happened.
“It’s about time we the residents of Sabden did something about slowing down the thousands of idiots who speed through the village.”
Lancashire Police has said that they are aware of the problem in Clitheroe Road and that they are working with local residents to curb traffic offences in the area.
Resident Stacey Shipston said: “We have lived on that road for the past 12 years and it is a joke.”
Neighbour Meriel Woodward said: “It was raised at the PACT meeting in The White Hart Inn recently.
“John Shorter and Andrew Mcatee are raising it as a big issue to the parish council.
“Apparently 80 per cent of people speeding in Sabden, live in Sabden.”
PCSO Di Bioletti said: “We are aware of the problem and we are dealing with it.
“It’s part of an on-going operation alongside the local residents.
“It has been raised at recent PACT meetings and residents have volunteered their time to monitor the roads for traffic offences with us.
“This is something that we do in all of the villages across the Ribble Valley.”
