MORE than 7,000 Pendle residents have signed up to have their garden waste collected.
Council bosses are reminding those yet to subscribe to the green bin collection service that it is not too late to pay for the anservice.
The new subscription scheme — in which residents pay £25 a year to have a green bin emptied — came into force on June 30.
Coun David Clegg, executive member for environmental services, said: “We want to remind residents it’s not too late to subscribe to garden waste collections.
“The price remains £25 for the year regardless of when people subscribe, so it’s better to subscribe now rather than in a few months’ time. Subscriptions run until June 30, 2015.”
Carole Taylor, recycling co-ordinator, said: “We’ve had payments for more than 7,000 bins.”
Residents can pay at www.pendle.gov.uk/gardenwaste, at Number One Market Street in Nelson and Barnoldswick Council Shop, or by calling 01282 661743.
