CRIMINAL damage to a waste plant has meant that the site will be closed until November.
Eastwood Recycling Centre in Todmorden is in need of extensive repairs following an incident on Saturday.
A man has been charged with criminal damage and investigations are under way by the police, Calderdale Council and SITA UK.
Temporary garden waste collections in Todmorden and Hebden Bridge will take place on alternate Saturdays from August 9 until the facility reopens, with an additional two bags of refuse allowed per household each fortnight.
Several community clean up days will take place to help remove residents’ bulkier items.
Calderdale Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Environment, Coun Barry Collins, said: "We want to assure people that we're doing all we can to get Eastwood back up and running as quickly as possible.”
Bulky household waste, such as beds, cookers and three-piece suites, can be taken for a charge of £15. Further information available by visiting www.calderdale.gov.uk, or calling 01422 288002.
