A NATURE reserve is to become more accessible to those with mobility issues who will be able to use all-terrain vehicle to explore Woodnook Vale Willow Trail.
Accrington-based environmental charity Prospects has secured a four-wheeled Tramper – an off road mobility scooter – which people can borrow.
Visitors to Woodnook Vale can learn about its industrial legacy, the Accrington to Bury section of railway line, wildlife and the Priestley Clough ancient woodland.
The Tramper, a four wheel drive electric buggy which can be used off road on rough ground, mud and grass, is on loan from Lancashire County Council. People wanting to try tit will undergo safety training before being given a route to follow from Prospects via Platts Lodge.
They will be required to stick to the stipulated route to Woodnook Vale and be accompanied by a friend, carer or family member.
Roger Plum, from the charity, said: “Try A Tramper is available nationally but this is the first time we have had one in Hyndburn.”
A walk has been organised on Saturday, August 16 when six Trampers will be available from Lancashire County Council.
People who already have an off-road mobility scooter are also invited to join the guided walk.
Anyone interested can contact Roger Plum at The Prospects Environment Centre, 54 Broadway, Accrington, call him on 01254 230348 or email roger.plum@prospectsfoundation.org.uk.
