AN East Lancashire village was turned into a TV set when stars including Sir Derek Jacobi and Sarah Lancashire rolled into town.
Red Production Company took over Edgworth on Sunday and Monday to film scenes for the third series of the award-winning BBC drama, Last Tango In Halifax.
Scenes were filmed at Turton Tower and close to the former Red Lion pub in Roman Road at Blackamoor.
And the Barlow Institute in Bolton Road was used as a base for vehicles involved in the production, which will be aired later this year.
North Turton and Tockholes councillor Jean Rigby said the choice of location was a ringing endorsement of the historic tower.
She said: “It puts it on the map a little bit. The tower needs all the help it can get these days.
“Using the tower can only be a good thing.”
Coun Rigby said it was also a welcome boost for the Barlow Institute.
She said: “The vehicles were so big they could not fit into the car park at Turton Tower, so they used the Barlow. They paid to use it so it is all money in the coffers.”
Last Tango In Halifax, which was first screened in 2012, follows widowers Alan and Celia who were childhood sweethearts reunited by a social networking site after 60 years and fall back in love.
It is mainly set in the West Yorkshire town but is filmed on location with Hoghton Tower also having previously been used for scenes.
