ENTHUSIASTS have been given the chance to climb aboard a 1,500mph fighter jet built in East Lancashire - via an app on their phones.
Typhoon Time is the new interactive game launched by defence giant BAE Systems to give people an idea of what its like to be in the cockpit of the Eurofighter Typhoon.
The app, which is available to download on phones, allows users to fly through The Mach Loo’, a low-flying route through mountains in Machynlleth.
The major units of Typhoon are manufactured at BAE Systems’ facility in Samlesbury with the final assembly and flight-testing of the aircraft taking place at its neighbouring site in Warton.
Mark Bowman, chief test pilot at BAE Systems Military Air and Information (MAI) business, said: “I am very lucky to have the opportunity to fly such an iconic aircraft, and it’s a truly exhilarating experience every single time I take to the air.
“The new Typhoon Time app really brings the Mach Loop to life, and people to gain an insight into the role of a test pilot.”
The app is free to download from iTunes and Google Play.
