A MAN who crashed his car into a wall while nearly three times the drink-drive limit then reported his vehicle stolen to police, a court was told.
Burnley magistrates heard how Ricky Sourbutts, 22, was unsteady on his feet when police found him.
A test later revealed 95 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
Sourbutts, of Kings Causeway, Brierfield, admitted driving with excess alcohol, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report it.
He was given a two-year ban, 75 hours unpaid work and must pay a £200 fine and £50 costs. Andrew Robinson, prosecuting, told the court police got a report a car had crashed into a wall in Marsden Road, Burnley, and the driver had made off towards Harle Syke. Burnley police communications said Sourbutts had called them reporting his vehicle as stolen.
