LANCASHIRE will remember those lost during World War One during a special service at Blackburn Cathedral.
People from parishes right across the county are invited to attend on August 3 and each parish will receive a candle. The following evening, all parishes are invited and hold a vigil in their parish church, leading up to 11pm, the hour war was declared.
At that time, to resonate with the phrase’ the lights are going out’, in the service planned at Westminster Abbey, the candles will be blown out and placed in an appropriate location, perhaps near a memorial, and will remain there until November 11, 2018.
