A SEX offender is being hunted after he moved away without telling police.

Dilshad Miah, from Burnley, was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman last November.

The 32-year-old was set free after being given a suspended sentence of 19 days and placed on the sex offenders’ register until 2020.

A manhunt has been launched by police, who said Miah was previously thought to be in either Rochdale or Manchester, but could now be as far south as London.

He is described as short at around 5ft tall, proportionate build with brown eyes and short dark hair.

DC Andrew Ashworth said: “Miah is a registered sex offender who has failed to notify the authorities of his whereabouts. I would strongly urge anyone who knows of his current/recent whereabouts to contact police. We believe he may well be spending time within the Bangladeshi community.

“Sex offenders are managed in the community by police and partners, a system which aims to prevent them from committing further offences. If they do not comply with the obligations of their licence or notification requirements, then we will take positive action to locate them, as we are doing in this case.”
