AN ‘OUTSTANDING’ student at Burnley College Sixth Form Centre has been nominated for a prestigious scholarship.
Talha Abbas, who is studying for an A level in computing, could receive the award from technology company CAE, which works with international high-tech firms such as Dell, Toshiba and Microsoft.
The former Pendle Vale pupil produced a report on the use of CISCO networking in his studies and how it can be put into use within businesses and organisations.
He is one of 10 students across the country to have been nominated for the award.
Talha, from Nelson, said: “I was surprised to be nominated by my tutors but they have been very supportive of me.
“The nomination will make me stand out from the crowd when applying for university and pursuing my future career.”
Talha is planning to study computing or web development at Lancaster University, with hopes of working for a major corporation in the future.
