MULTI-TALENTED Thomas Halstead made his stage debut in Oliver this year — and has already been nominated for an award.
Blessed Trinity pupil Thomas, 12, has been shortlisted for the National Operatic and Dramatic Association North West awards in the Best Male Youth Performer in an Adult Production category.
He is up against four others from the region and the winner will be announced at a glitzy ceremony at the Accor Mercure Hotel in Manchester in May.
“I was shocked when I got a telephone call to say I had been nominated,” said Thomas, of Langwyth Road, Burnley.
“I had been nominated by St Cuthbert’s Amateur and Operatic Society for my appearance as the Artful Dodger late last year. It was first time on stage so I never expected it at all. It’s excellent! Even if I don’t win, I will get a certificate so that’s good enough for me. I am really happy as I enjoy acting.”
It could be a busy year for Oliver as he also balances cricket, playing football for Readstone United and acting.
Thomas plays for Lowerhouse Cricket Club and Lancashire Under 12s, moving up to the Under 13s this year.
