AN INVESTIGATION was launched after a woman claimed she was raped in an alleyway.
The 25-year-old told police that she was grabbed from behind by two men in Railway Road, in Darwen, at around 1.30am today after a night out.
Forensic tests were completed and officers also carried out CCTV inquiries.
They found that there was no proof an assault had taken place.
A spokeswoman for Lancashire Police said: “The 25-year-old woman, who had been on a night out in Darwen, alleged that on walking on Railway Road, she was grabbed by two men and held while she was sexually assaulted.
“We had officers carrying out CCTV and forensic inquiries and there was no evidence that any offence had taken place.
