A MAN has been found in a Darwen street this morning with blood coming from his nose.

Police said witnesses had described how the victim, who is understood to be in his 30s, had been assaulted.

He was found by an off duty police officer in Holden Fold at around 7.50am.

Officers were called by the ambulance service after it was unclear if there were any suspicious circumstances.

A police spokeswoman said the man was conscious and breathing.

A cordon has been put in place and the road was reported to have been shut between its junctions with Moor Lance and Oak Grove.
