WORKING class families are being dealt another ‘kick in the teeth’ by the government, Hyndburn MP Graham Jones said.
Prime Minister David Cameron has refused to rule out further tax cuts for the richest one per cent of taxpayers, a move the Labour MP has criticised.
Mr Jones said: “[It’s] a kick in the teeth for most of us struggling with an unprecedented cost of living crisis.
“Cutting tax for the top one per cent won't help get the deficit down and it’s deeply unfair.
Mr Jones said Labour would raise the top rate of tax to 50 per cent and crack down on tax avoidance.
He added: “When you're taking difficult decisions, it’s really important that people feel the burden is shared.”
