PENDLE Council is reminding dog owners to make sure they clean up after their pets all year round.
Coun Nadeem Ahmed, who represents parks in Pendle, said: “When the autumn leaves blow away, they reveal piles of dog mess that have been left behind by irresponsible owners.
“Because the grass doesn’t grow at this time of year, they’re clearly visible and make our parks look such a mess.
“We’re reminding dog owners that they risk being issued with a £75 fixed penalty notice if they don’t bag their dogs’ poop.
“There’s really no excuse for not bagging and binning it.”
Dog owners can be issued with a fixed penalty notice of £75 if seen to be allowing their dog to foul in public and failing to immediately clear it up.
