WORK on a zebra crossing in Barkerhouse Road, Nelson, is to start next Monday.
Nelson South county councillor Azhar Ali said: “I have been working with local Labour councillors to fund this zebra crossing and despite the government cuts, Lancashire County Council believes this zebra crossing is much needed and I congratulate all involved in finally seeing their efforts coming to fruition.”
Coun Sheila Wicks, who represents Southfield ward, said: “I along with my colleagues helped secure money from Nelson Area Committee and in partnership with Lancashire County Council. Our dream is to become a reality with this £25,000 zebra crossing.”
Nelson town councillor Mohammed Ammer said: “This is an investment in the safety of the community in Southfield.”
