A BLACKBURN firm is set to revolutionise teaching styles by creating classrooms with ‘smart walls’.
Whitebirk-based Promethean said it had moved on to the next stage from interactive whiteboards.
The educational tools firm has joined forces with touch technology giant Light Blue Optics. The result is a digital panel called ActivWall which can be used on any surface.
The screens can be positioned both at the front and back of a classroom, as well as on adjacent walls. The screens, which respond to touch, can also be used on vertical surfaces, creating ‘smart desks’ for small working groups.
The screens also use ‘Light Touch’ technology so screens know whether the contact touch is a pen or fingertip and responds accordingly. The smart surfaces can also process commands of up to 20 pupil and teacher touches simultaneously
