TWO cars were severely damaged after a fire at a garage in Nelson in the early hours.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at 2.45am where a domestic double garage was on fire.

Police and fire crews have launched a joint investigation into the incident, which saw a Vauxhall Astra and a Peugeot badly damaged.

Firefighters used a power cutting saw to take off the garage door and entered using breathing apparatus to put out the flames.
