AN occasional visitor to Towneley Park’s duck pond has been getting park users in a flap.
From time to time Mandarin Ducks grace the water feature at the Burnley park, mingling among their more common feathered friends.
And our photographer Helen Brown was on hand to capture this little fellow’s reappearance on the pond, to the delight of regular visitors.
Work was only completed by council engineers on a major overhaul of the duck pond late last year.
Around 7,000 of the ducks, once widespread in Eastern Asia, now live wild in the UK.
The male, pictured here, is much more colourful than the grey and speckled female of the species.
