A LOTTERY winner has refused to jet off for a lavish festive break - because his father-in-law wouldn't forgive him for missing Christmas dinner!

Trevor Noon, 50, of Great Harwood, won nearly £1million after buying his first ever lucky dip at Blackburn's Morrisons last week.

But the win will not interfere with the Noon's Christmas plans - Trevor said he daren't break them at the last minute.

He said: "We always have a family Christmas surrounded by friends. I would not want to change that. Plus my father-in-law would kill us if we didn't go! The only difference will be I'll take two bottles of wine instead of one!"

The family including his wife Elaine, 40, and sons Scott, 16, Liam, 21, and Paul, 28, will spend Christmas doing the same they always do.

Christmas Eve will be with friends, Christmas Day will be a big family gathering with brothers sisters and cousins for one big Christmas dinner.

The Rovers fan was presented with a cheque for £907,811 by personal friend and team captain Lucas Neill at Rovers training ground, Brockhall Village.

Trevor, an engineer at metal firm Wirex Precision for the last 17 years, has not even thought about leaving his job - because he loves it.

And his wife will also continue with her job at the Co-op in Queen Street, Great Harwood.

The only changes the family want to make is to buy a new house, have a holiday and pay of their son Liam's £20,000 student loan.

The winning numbers on December 13 were: 4, 12, 14, 20, 46 and 49 chosen as a lucky dip because Trevor forgot his usual numbers.

Trevor said: "I'd forgotten to take my usual numbers with me when I bought my ticket, so I chose a lucky dip. It's all gone a bit mad.

"We were planning a family Christmas with friends and we don't want to change that - our family and friends are what's most important."
